Huss Group Magazine On-Line Dez 2009

Dear Reader,

A dynamic year is coming to a close. The world is facing a big recession which is reported to be the largest since the 1920s. Some of our customers have to cope with a decrease in sales of 60-70% and huge labor lay-off plans. While being in “green technologies”, the HUSS Group was not unaffected by the worldwide economical situation. Luckily, we were able to compensate for unsuccessful areas with more prosperous ones and, therefore, we will profitably close this year even with  a slight 10% decrease in sales. Despite the recession, we were able to strengthen our market position in some European countries and the US. Fortunately, we were not forced to lay-off people due to the recession, which is extraordinary, compared to our business environment. In some production areas, we were even able to employ more people in order to achieve a multi-shift operation.

Therefore, it is time to say “Thank you” for your business in these tough times. The HUSS team wishes a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your family. We hope to successfully continue our relationship in the next year.

The HUSS Group will continue to grow next year. Beside our retrofit business in Europe and in the US, we see good growth potential in the OEM sector. In this issue of the HUSS Magazine, we are highlighting our OEM branch, HUSS Technologies. Have a look to our interesting product portfolio for OEM customers and our approach to the market. Our innovative ceramic, metal expertise in canning and silencer systems and the development of innovative components are just a brief look at what OEM customers can expect from us. Enjoy reading.

Yours sincerely, Thomas Rahn
CEO HUSS Group

ACTIVE RETROFIT SOLUTION FOR MIDDLE WEIGHT TRUCKS

Beginning in 2010, Germany will have 40 active Low Emission Zones. Led by the cities of Berlin and Hanover (access only possible with the green sticker), the regulations get sharpened little by little. To address these specific needs, HUSS has decided to use its active diesel-post-injection system for the market of retrofitting trucks. HUSS thereby only offers solutions for middle weight trucks (3,5l to 9l displacement). “HUSS is definitely the best retrofit solution for trucks in distribution traffic”, says Andreas Kaufmann, Managing Director of Kaufmann GmbH Nutzfahrzeugservice, one of HUSS‘ certified repair shops in Hanover. On the following pages, Bert Pierlings, Project Manager Onroad, tells us about  the HUSS concept for the Low Emission Zones.

HUSS TECHNOLOGIES – OE PARTNER FOR HIGH-TECH PRODUCTS AND DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS

The HUSS Group, especially HUSS, LLC in the US and HUSS Umwelttechnik in Germany specialize in  retrofit solutions for exhaust aftertreatment applications. Well known products like the exhaust gas temperature independent “MK” diesel burner system and the sophisticated “MD” system with engine external diesel injection are the foundation of the HUSS brand. Although fairly unnoticed in comparison to the  well-known, strong and dominant business branches, a new sector of the HUSS Group grows quickly and consistently. In 2008, when the HUSS Group was formed, the owners had foreseen the necessity of widening the scope of business activities into the world of Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM customers). The result was the foundation of a new company.

2009 - NEW CARB VERIFICATIONS FOR HUSS

CARB GRANTS INTERNAL EGR VERIFICATION FOR HUSS MK SYSTEM

In August, HUSS was granted an extension for the MK filter system as a Level 3 plus system by the California Air Resources Board (CARB).  The MK System verification now includes model year 2009 and older off-road diesel engines and model year 2006 and older on-road diesel engines, including those with internal exhaust gas recirculation. "This latest verification extension by CARB further illustrates the fact that the HUSS MK System is the most versatile and effective diesel particulate filter with active regeneration on the market today," comments Phil Surma, HUSS General Manager. "Off-road applications in particular will benefit from this expanded verification. We are excited to bring the MK System to this segment of the off-road market.”
