California Air Resources Board (CARB) releases CDC filter material for the US market
Palm Desert/Grossroehrsdorf/Nuremberg: HUSS Group senior management announces that California Air Resources Board (CARB) has approved the filter material of CleanDieselCeramics (CDC) for being sold in US markets. Beside Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), CARB is one of the highest authorities watching over the approvals of emission reduction technologies.
Thomas Rahn, CEO of HUSS Group, values this as a great success for his companies: “We are now established in the USA for three years. Each year we were able to carry forward our success. The CARB approval for our own filter material is one of the biggest milestones in our history. Employments and growth, both in USA and Germany, will be secured.”
The filter material is a high-tech product and the concept was honoured in 2009 with the Fraunhofer Award. Worldwide CDC is one of a few companies being able to produce a highly poroues material from Silicon Carbide (SiC) in the application of a diesel particulate filter. Since start of production in 2008 many investments have been made in regard to the growing market perspectives. In the next days a new oven section is ready for production and in order to grant the production capacities, in a three shift model, 10 new employments have been realised since September this year.
Despite recession Thomas Rahn sees his company in an upward trend: “Our market was always given by legislation. This has not been changed by recession. Worldwide the emission regulations will tear down PM (particulate matter) and NOX emission by another 90%. This level can not be reached without exhaust after treatment and filters made in Germany.”
